How to Create a European Inspired Wedding in New England | The Garden at Elm Bank

The timelessness of European style is a frequent source of inspiration for New England weddings. This aesthetic is perfect for the couple who appreciates history, has strong attention to detail, and values visual story-telling. Some of the most iconic sources of inspiration for European inspired weddings comes from the Rococo period. Known for its pastel colors, exceptionally ornate detail, and almost theatrical architecture, this period continues to inform artists and designers well into the 2020’s.

Venue- Where you chose to host your wedding will set the tone for the entire event. If your goal is to create a European experience, look for venues that offer lush gardens, ornate architecture, and unique history. Color Palette- I recommend keeping with the tradition of pastel tones. Blush pink, sage green, champagne, and dove gray all compliment the stone work and the florals that your venue will showcase. Stationary- Paper goods are a wonderful way to let guests know what to expect from your wedding. This is the first design element that will touch the hands of your closest family members and friends- don’t let it be an after thought.
